Offline Functionality of the Notary eJournal Explained
How does offline functionality work with the Notary eJournal?
The app will function for 12 hours from your most recent point of server authentication. Server authentication is defined as successfully logging in to the app while connected to wifi or cell service.
Note - any feature that requires connectivity will not function while in an offline state, ie “Detect current location” will not function. ID scanning will function while offline
Upon reaching the last step of the entry creation process, you will click the “complete” button like usual and will be presented with an alert that tells you that the entry was not able to be uploaded to the server due to connectivity issues. The entry will be marked as “complete” and will then need to be uploaded to the server when you regain connection to the internet.
Important - Do not forget to upload your completed drafts to the server next time you regain internet connection. The Notary eJournal will NOT automatically force-upload any pending completed drafts
Test offline functionality from home
Open the app & log in
Once on the landing page of your journal, turn on airplane mode and ensure all cell/wifi connections are turned off
Begin creating a new entry (but do not mark it as “complete” since it is just a test)
When finished testing how the app works while offline, turn off airplane mode and establish internet connection to return to a normal state within the app
